Our lab focuses on understanding the complex cellular signaling pathways that orchestrate fundamental developmental processes like growth and patterning. Our special attention is on Wnt ligands that are crucial developmental signaling molecules. We utilize Drosophila developing tissues as our primary model system and employ sophisticated genetic tools and high-resolution microscopic techniques to dissect the intricate mechanisms underlying Wnt protein secretion and Wnt-mediated signaling.

Furthermore, we explore the phenomenon of cell competition, wherein cells with superior fitness outcompete and eliminate their less fit neighbours through complex fitness-sensing mechanisms. These intriguing mechanisms not only contribute to the precision and robustness observed in organismal development but also provide valuable insights into the causes of deviations from normal homeostasis to disease conditions.
