About me

For every movement of body a proper connection between muscle and neuron called synapse is required. Transmission of synaptic signal is a complex process which involves various cellular events, including but not limited to, trafficking proteins and their degradation, filling vesicles with neurotransmitter, fusion and recycling of membrane receptors and vesicles. Regulation of these cellular activities through different cellular signaling pathways is thus essential for the optimal synaptic activity. BAR (Bin–Amphiphysin–Rvs)-domain containing proteins are known to have the capability to change the membrane dynamics and involved in above mentioned cellular events. Although from last few years study of BAR domain proteins has taken the centre stage of research but role of many BAR proteins are still unknown at the synapse. I am interested in investigating the role of one of the BAR domain containing protein at the neuromuscular junction (NMJ) of Drosophila melanogaster.
