Objective of the course

Introduction to quantum mechanics.

Pre-requisite

PHY201 (Quantum Physics), MTH102 (Linear Algebra).

Outline of the course

1. Fundamental concept : Stern-Gerlach experiments.
2. Linear vector space : Bra-Ket notation, operators, matrix representations, observables, uncertainity relation, position and momentum basis, introduction of wave function.
3. Dynamics : Time evolution of quantum state, Schr\"odinger equation, Heisenberg picture.
4. One dimensional potentials : particle in a box, simple harmonic oscillator.
5. Theory of angular momentum.
6.Central force : Hydrogen atom.
